Henry Stees was a postmaster and public official. Little is known about his early life and education. He moved to Wabash County, Illinois, sometime before 1840. Stees was twice postmaster of Mount Carmel, from April 1849 to December 1853, and from June 1862 to February 1865. In 1860, he owned real property valued at $3,000 and had a personal estate of $1,000.
