Wright, Thomas (US Army Paymaster)

Wright joined the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army in April 1812. In April 1813, he received promotion to 2nd lieutenant, and in April 1814, advanced to 1st lieutenant. From December 1812 to June 1815, he was regimental paymaster. In May 1815, he transferred to the 8th Infantry. From June 1815 to June 1821, he served as regimental paymaster. In September 1817, he received promotion to captain. After the reorganization of the Army in 1821, the War Department retained Wright, advancing him to the rank of major and paymaster stationed at Pensacola, Florida. He remained as Pensacola until 1831, when he transferred to St. Louis.
