Mr Geo Fisher of Ottawa Illinois, is an applicant for a commission in the Army. Mr F. was a non commissioned officer, in my Battallion, and under my immediate command for during our campaign in Mexico, and I take pleasure in saying, that he is a young man, of education, fine abilities, unexceptionable in his habits, and one of the verry best Officers in the Army. He was the life and soul of his company, a company acknowledged, amongst the best drilld & disciplined in our Column, and if you can forward his views, you may rest satisfied that you are rendering your country a service, besides doing a favour to2
