Deed of Conveyance from Jesse K. Dubois to James L. Hill, 23 July 18451
This Indenture made this twentythird day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and fortyfive by and between Jesse K. Dubois of the county of Lawrence and state of Illinois, party of the first part, and James L. Hill, of the City of Springfield and state aforesaid, party of the second part, Witnesseth: That the said party of the first part, for, and in consideration of, the sum of fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, and sold; and by these presents does grant, bargain, and sell, unto the said party of the second part, all the right, title, interest, and estate of the said party of the first part, in and to Lot numbered Fourteen in Block numbered Fifteen in E. Iles’ addition to the (late town, now) city of Springfield in the state of Illinois. To have and to hold to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, the above described Lot, together with all and singular the previleges and appurtenances thereunto belonging: And the said party of the first part, for himself, his heirs and assigns, does covenant to, and with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns that he will warrant, and forever defend the title of said Lot against the claim or claims of any and all persons whomsoever–
