Section 1^st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly That Abner Hall[,] Peter Cartwright and William Stotts of the county of Sangamon be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners to view mark, and survey and locate a road, commencing at or near the house of William Crowns, on Indian Creek in the County of Morgan on the Road leading from Jacksonville, to Sangamon Town, and with said road as fare as said commissioner may think advisable so as to pass near the head of richland Timber; thence on the most practical ^route^ (doing as little damage as possible to private property): to athens and from thence to William Stotts, in the Irish Grove, and thence to Musicks bridge on Salt Creek, and from thence to the road leading from Springfield to fort Clark

Section 2^d Said Commissioners or a majority of them shall meet at the house of Peter Cartwright in said County on the first Monday in April next or in one Month thereafter and after being first duly

sworn before some Justice of the Peace faithfully to perform such duties, as are required by this act: Shall procede to the place of beginning and commence said location, and as soon as, practical shall make a true survey and map of said road signed by them and file the same in the office of the County Commissioners Court of Sangamon County

Section 3^d Said road when laid out as aforesaid shall be deemed a public highway the county commissioners of said county shall cause the same to be opened four poles wide, and be worked and kept in repair as other State Roads areThe County Commissioners of said County may allow a reasonable compensation to said Commissioners for said service to be paid out of the County Treasury

Section 4^th Be it further enacted that the road leading from Jacksonville to William Crows on Indian Creek be and the same is hereby declared a State road and shall be opened four poles wide and kept in repair as other state roads are
