AN ACT to distribute the Revised Laws of 1833.
1Duty of sheriffs
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the sheriffs of the several counties in this state, shall, upon the publication of

this act, deliver to the clerks of the county commissioners’ courts of their respective counties, all of the copies of the Laws of this state, which have been delivered to them for sale, under any law of this state.

Sec. 2. The clerks of the county commissioners’ courts, shall receive, and receipt for the Laws aforesaid, and shall safely keep them in
their offices, subject to distribution among the officers entitled to copies according
to law.
Distribution of Laws.
Sec. 3. The secretary of state, shall send, with the Laws of the present session of the General Assembly, to each of the counties organised since 1833, two copies of the Revised Laws of 1833, and as many more copies, not
exceeding ten to each county, as may not be required for public use, at the seat of
government.

Sec. 4. It shall be lawful for the clerk of any county commissioners’ court, of any county, who may have in his possession more copies of the Revised Laws of
1833, than may be necessary for distribution in his county, to supply any county not
having a sufficient number of copies, for the use of the officers of the county, upon
the application of the county commissioners of any county not having such sufficient number as aforesaid.

1Christian B. Blockburger introduced HB 36 in the House of Representatives on December 17, 1835. On December 22, the House referred the bill to a select committee.
On December 26, the select committee reported back the bill with an amendment, in
which the House concurred. On the same day, the House amended the bill by striking
out the words “Montgomery and Pope,” and inserting “the Sheriffs of the several counties
in this State” instead. The House passed the bill on December 30. On January 13, the
Senate referred the bill to a select committee. On January 14, the select committee reported
back the bill with a substitute, in which the Senate concurred. The Senate passed
the bill as amended on the same day. On January 15, the House concurred in the amendments
of the Senate to the bill. On January 16, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
