Sec[Section]. 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly That an Election shall be held on the first Monday in August next And on the first Monday in August in the year Eighteen hundred thirty Eight, and on the first Monday in August in every second year thereafter, the same being the time for holding the General Election, in each County in this state for a Clerk of the County Commissioners Court, Public Administrator, and notaries public and County Treasurer, which Clerk, Treasurer, public Administrator and notaries so elected shall continue in office for two years, and untill their successors shall be elected and qualified to officeThe said Clerk, Treasurer[,] Administrator[,] and notaries so elected previous to entering upon the duties of their respective offices shall enter into bonds, as now required by law, the securities to which shall be approved of by the County Commissioners Court of the respective Counties for which said Clerk[,] Treasurer, Public Administrator[,] and notaries public are elected

Sec 2. The election provided for by this act shall be held at the same place and conducted in all respects as is now provided for by the law regulating the election of County Commissioners, and vacancies shall be filled in the same manner provided however that said Court shall appoint a Clerk and Treasurer protempore whose time of service shall continue till a Clerk and Treasurer be elected and qualified as above provided
Sec 3. All contested elections for Clerk[,] and Treasurer[,] Public Administrator[,] and notaries public shall be regulated as provided for in the mode prescribed, for contesting Elections for Sheriffs and Coroners
Sec 4. So much of any law as authorises Courts of County Commissioners to appoint or elect a Treasurer be, and the same is hereby repealed
