AN ACT to revive and continue in force an act therein named.

Act of 1836 revived
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the act entitled, “An act to locate a certain State road therein named,” approved January 13th, 1836, appointing commissioners to locate a State road2 from Bon Pas Bridge, in Edwards county, toBedell ’s mills on the Wabash river, in Wabash county,3 be and the same is hereby declared to be in full force and effect: Provided, That the commissioners named in said act shall locate the same within six months from and after the passage of this act.

1On January 25, 1837, Edward Smith introduced HB 145 in the House of Representatives. The House passed the bill on February 2, and the Senate passed the bill on February 10. On March 1, the Council of Revision approved the bill, and the act became law.

2State roads were those public roads established or designated by the General Assembly and usually crossed county lines. Only the General Assembly could establish, alter, or abandon state roads, until 1840 and 1841, when the General Assembly gave counties the authority to alter or to abandon state roads upon petition by a majority of voters in the area of the change.
3The bridge over Bonpas Creek was located near the south end of Edwards County’s eastern border. Moses Bedell’s mill was located toward the northern end of Wabash County’s eastern border.
