AN ACT to amend “An act to incorporate the Wabash Rail-road Company.”
1Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the towns of Upper Alton, in Madison county, and Charleston, in Coles county, be and the same are hereby declared points through which the road, mentioned in
first section of the act to which this is an amendment, shall be made to pass.

1On January 10, 1837, Cyrus Edwards introduced SB 68 in the Senate. On January 13, the Senate referred the bill to a select committee. The select
committee reported back the bill on January 14 with an amendment, in which the Senate
concurred. The Senate passed the bill as amended. On January 25, the House of Representatives referred the bill to a select committee. The select committee reported back the
bill on February 23 with an amendment, in which the House concurred. On February
24, the House passed the bill as amended, amending the title so as to read “A Bill to Amend An
Act Incorporating the Illinois Exporting Company.” On February 28, the Senate tabled the bill and House amendments. On March 2,
the Senate took up and concurred with the House amendments and amended title. On March 4, however,
the Senate enrolled the bill text concerning the Alton and Wabash Railroad Company. On March 4, Council of Revision approved the bill, and the act became law.
