13 Sec[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly: That ^hereafter^ there shall be an additional Constable allowed to the County of Fayette who Shall reside in the Town of Vandalia.
Sec 2. At the next election to be held in Said County on the first Monday in August next, ^the Judges of Said elections Shall cause a poll to be opened, and^ the qualified voters in the District in which Vandalia is Situated shall be entitled to vote for Said additional Constable who, when elected, shall be Subject to all the laws in force, defining the duties of constables in this State
Sec 3. The individual so elected shall may hold his office until the next general election for constables, and at that time, and quadreenly thereafter, the ^office of^ said additional Constable shall be filled as in other cases.

Sec 3 That an Election shall be held on the first Monday in October next in the Town of Bernedotte ^in Fulton County^ for one Justice of the Peace and one Constable; and also at the same time there Shall be an Election held in the Town of Peoria in the County of Peoria for one additional Constable for said Town. That Said Election Shall be held by the Judges of Elections, in Said Counties, and that the quallified voters vote in every respect as now provided by law, & the Constables & Justice thus Elected Shall be subject to all the Laws in force defining the duties of Justices & Constables in this State

On July 18, the House referred the bill to a select committee, which reported back the bill with an amendment on July 21. The House approved the amendment, but took no further action on the bill before the end of the legislative session.
