Sec.[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That S. S Farris[,] S Wilson, J. A. Robinson, R F Cross, J W Campbell, A. S Hargrave, J Keen, J McCollum [?] W. Borah, C. J Ridgeway, J W Barnhill, E R Selby, J. C Bennett, D. Turney, W. L [?], and their Associates and successors: be and they are hereby, created, constituted
and declared to be, a body corporate and politic; with perpetual succession for ever,
by the name and style of the “Illinois Legion” with all and singular the plenary powers and prerogatives in the county of Wayne, that are granted to the Invinciable dragoons of the 2nd Division of Illinois Militia” in the counties of White, Edwards, and Wabash.
Sec 2 [The corporation?] shall be attached to the 2nd division of Illinois Militia and shall organize in Fairfield on the 22nd of February 1839.
