AN ACT to grant a compensation to the Brigade Inspector of the first brigade and
third division of Illinois militia.
1Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois , represented in the General Assembly, That the Auditor of Public Accounts be, and he is hereby, required to draw his warrant on the treasury for the sum of
eighty dollars, upon the order of Christian B. Blockburger, for inspecting eight battalions in the first brigade and third division of Illinois militia, in the year 1838.

1On December 17, 1838, Representative Josiah Fisk reported a petition, and the House of Representatives referred the petition to a select committee. On December 18, Fisk introduced HB 39 in the House. On December 20, the House referred the bill to the Committee on the
Militia. On December 22, the Committee on the Militia reported the bill without amendment.
On January 3, 1839, the House passed the bill. On January 21, the Senate referred the bill to the Committee on Military Affairs. On January 22, the Committee
on Military Affairs reported the bill without amendment. The Senate then voted down
Senator William Thomas’ move to strike everything after the enacting clause; however the Senate did agree
to Thomas’ subsequent amendment. On February 4, the Senate agreed to Senator William H. Davidson’s move to amend bill’s title and passed the bill. On February 5, the House referred
the bill as amended by the Senate to the Committee on the Militia. On February 20,
the Committee on the Militia approved the Senate’s amendments to the bill, but the
House rejected the amendments and referred the bill back to the Senate. On February
25, the Senate agreed to recede from its amendments. On February 26, the Council of Revision informed the House that it had approved the bill and the act became law.
