To the Honorable; the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Illinois, in General Assembly.
The undersigned, Citizens1 of the County of Pike; in the State of Illinois aforesaid, respectfully pray your Honorable body; That, inasmuch as there are two towns or more, called Augusta, in this state; one in Hancock county & one in the County of Pike aforesaid, which sometimes causes persons from abroad to mistake the one for the other, and thereby be subjected to vexatious delays in the transmission of letters &c. You will grant the prayer of your Petioners and change the name of the town of Augusta in the county of Pike, aforesaid, to Florence
And your Petioners as in duty bound will ever pray &c.
