AN ACT to authorize the county commissioners of Peoria county to change a certain State road.

Com’rs[Commissioners] to change part of road.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the county commissioners of the county of Peoria be, and they are hereby, authorized to alter, change, and relocate, so much of the State road leading from Peoria to Stephenson as lies between the north line of township ten north, range seven east, and the town of Peoria, in said county of Peoria. In making the

said change or relocation, the county commissioners shall be governed, in all respects, by the law now in force providing for the relocation of county roads.
Plats.
Sec. 2. Whenever the aforesaid alteration shall be made, and the plats returned to the county commissioners’ court as required by law, the same shall be, together with the whole of the aforesaid road, as laid out by the commissioners appointed by an act of the Legislature, entitled “An act to locate a State road from Stephenson to Peoria,” approved February seventh, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-seven, a State road to all intents and purposes, and shall be opened, worked, and kept in repair, as required by law.

1On January 25, 1839, Senator John Hamlin presented a petition of citizens of Peoria County to change a certain state road, and the Senate referred the petition to a select committee. On January 28, the select committee reported in favor of the petition and Senator Hamlin of the committee introduced SB 144 in the Senate. On February 7, the Senate passed the bill. On February 14, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 19, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
