AN ACT to establish a justice’s district in township seven north, range seven east,
in Peoria county.
1Justices’ district.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois , represented in the General Assembly, That all that district included within the boundaries of township seven north, range
seven east, in the county of Peoria, be, and the same is hereby, constituted a district for the election of a justice
of the peace and constable.
Election.
Sec. 2. The county commissioners’ court of the county of Peoria are hereby authorized and required to cause an election to be held on or before the
first Monday in August next, and (at) each quadrennial election thereafter, for one
justice of the peace and one constable in said district. The persons so elected shall
have and exercise the same jurisdiction, hold their offices by the same tenure, and
be under the same regulations in all respects, as other justices of the peace and
constables in this State.

1On February 20, 1839, John Hamlin introduced SB 239 in the Senate. On February 26, the Senate passed the bill. On February 27, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On March 1, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
