AN ACT to provide for holding an additional term of the circuit court in the county
of Peoria.
1Spring term of circuit court, De Kalb county
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the spring term of the circuit court in the county of De Kalb, shall be held on the first Monday in June annually, and all writs and other process
which may be issued and made returnable, at the term of said

court as heretofore required to be holden, shall be deemed and taken to be returnable
to the said term as required to be held by the provisions of this act.
Sec. 2. In addition to the regular terms of the circuit court in the ninth judicial circuit,
there shall be held, in the county of Kane, a term of said court, on the second Monday in July, and in the county of Peoria, on the fourth Monday in July, annually.

1On December 17, 1839, Senator John Hamlin introduced SB 4 in the Senate. On December 26, the Senate passed the bill. On December 27, the House referred the
bill to a select committee. On December 30, the select committee reported the bill
with an amendment, and the House concurred in the amendment. On January 2, 1840, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On January 23, the Senate refused to approve the House’s amendment.
On January 24, the House refused to recede from its amendment. On January 25, the
Senate requested that the House agree to a committee of conference of the two houses
on the bill, and the House agreed to the Senate’s request. On January 27, the Committee
of Conference reported a substitute bill, and the House laid the bill on the table.
On December 27, the Senate accepted the Committee of Conference’s amended version
of the bill. On January 29, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
