1On December 11, 1839, Samuel D. Marshall in the House of Representatives presented the petition of Calvin Gold, requesting relief. The House referred the petition to the Committee on the Judiciary. In response to this petition, Edwin B. Webb of the Committee on the Judiciary introduced HB 76 in the House on December 30. The House passed the bill on January 13, 1840. The House informed the Senate of the bill’s passage, but the Senate took no action.
