A Whig newspaper, the Daily News was founded in 1847 by Edward M. Paxson, who edited the paper for one year. John P. Sanderson edited it from 1848 to 1856. The paper was also published as the Tri-Weekly News, and was affiliated with the Dollar Weekly News and Die Wochentlichen Neuigkeiten.
