Alvey, William

Alvey moved to Illinois in 1824 and he settled in Springfield the following year. In 1825, he married Madeline Watson, with whom he had six children. While living in Springfield, Alvey ran a hat shop and was an active member of the Whig Party. In 1848 he moved to Marengo, Iowa. Madeline died in 1849, and William re-married to Eleanor Penny in 1850.
