Peter Doty was clerk of the Woodford County Circuit Court. In 1850, Doty was living with his wife and children in District Fifty-Six in Woodford County and owned real property valued at $1,000. In 1852, he won election as clerk of the Woodford County Circuit Court. Doty won reelection in 1856. In 1858, he was among the original stockholders of the Woodford County Agricultural Association. Doty remained circuit court clerk until his term expired in 1860. In 1860, he was living in Metamora and owned real property valued at $2,000 and had a personal estate of $3,000.
