Enos, Jr. was the brother of Zimri A. Enos and the son of Pascal P. Enos, Sr. He attended Jesuit College in St. Louis, Missouri, and later Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. He settled in Springfield, where voters elected him as an alderman in 1848. Enos served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1853 to 1854 and was the deputy clerk of the Sangamon County Circuit Court.
