Lincoln, Josiah

Josiah Lincoln was an uncle of Abraham Lincoln and brother of Thomas Lincoln. In 1780, Josiah moved with his family from Virginia to frontier Kentucky, settling on a large farm near what would become Louisville in Jefferson County. In 1801, he married Catharine Barlow of Washington County, Kentucky. The couple had four children in Kentucky. In 1812, Josiah and his family moved to Indiana, settling on the Big Blue River in Harrison County. Josiah and Catharine Lincoln had two children in Indiana. Josiah acquired a farm of 160 acres near Blue River Township, on which he lived until he died.
