Loose, Joseph B.

Sometime prior to 1840, Loose moved westward and settled in Springfield, Illinois. In 1844, while home in Maryland for a visit, he married Henrietta Baechtel. By 1852, Loose had moved back to Hagerstown, Maryland permanently, where he took over the management of his father-in-law's estate. Politically, Loose was a Democrat. Religiously, he was a Presbyterian, and served as an elder in his church in Maryland. In 1860, Loose owned $49,000 worth of real estate and $25,000 worth of personal property.
