Morgan, Thomas (Sangamon Co., IL)

During the War of 1812, Morgan served in William Henry Harrison's Army of the Northwest, seeing action at the sieges of Fort Meigs and the Battle of the Thames. After the war, he relocated to Hamilton County, Ohio, near Cincinnati, where he married Elizabeth Butler, with whom he had seven children. In 1822, Morgan and his family moved to Sangamon County, Illinois, purchasing public land and settling south of Spring Creek, west of Springfield. He and his family later moved to Schuyler County, Illinois.
