Strong, Schuyler

By 1840, Strong, his wife, and their six daughters had settled in Springfield, Illinois, where he practiced law, briefly forming a partnership with John C. Doremus. From 1840 to 1841, he also worked as clerk of the Springfield City Council. In that same year, he accepted an appointment as commissioner and master in chancery for the U.S. District Court for the District of Illinois.
