Charles P. Webster was a merchant in Springfield, Illinois. From 1840 to 1851, he was in partnership with Bela C. Webster in B. C. Webster & Company, a mercantile store. In 1850, he was living with Bela C. Webster and owned real property valued at $250. In February 1851, Bela C. and Charles P. Webster dissolved their partnership, and Charles entered into partnership with Charles W. Matheny under the name Matheny & Webster--a partnership which lasted until March 1851, when Charles sold his interests to Matheny.
