Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That George Akers and Moses Thomas of Champaign County and James M Kellep of McLean County be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, mark[,] and locate a road from Moses Thomas’[s] in Champaign County by the way of Urbana, in said County to Bloomington in Mc Lean County.
Sec 2 Said Commissioners, or a majority of them shall meet at the house of Moses Thomas on the first day of April next, or as soon thereafter as they Conveniently Can, And after being ^first^ duly sworn before some Justice of the peace faithfully To discharge the duties required of them by this act, shall forthwith proceed to view[,] mark[,] and locate said road on the nearest and best ground, for a permanent road, doing as little injury to private property as the public good will permit
Sec 3 Said Commissioners, or a majority of them shall on or before the first Monday in June next make a map or plat of that part of said road which lies in the respective Counties, and transmit

the same to each of the Clerks of the County Commissioners’ courts, respectively, to be ^by^ him filed in his office, and shall, also, make a full map or plat of said road, and transmit the same to the office of the secretary of State of this state there to be ^filed^ and preserved.
Sec 4 When said road shall be located and established, it shall be deemed a publick highway: shall be opened sixty feet wide, and shall be kept in repair as other publick higways.
Sec 5 The County Commissioners Courts of the respective Counties shall Cause to be paid to the said road commissioners, and such hands as ^the^ said Commissioners may find it necessary to employ, in viewing[,] marking[,] and locating said road, such Compensation out the county Treasury as they may deem reasonable.
