and he is hereby authorised to erect a mill dam across Fox river, and on section twenty-nine, township thirty-four north of range four east, in the
county of La Salle, Provided, the said William Stadden shall prior to the erection of said dam comply with the provisions of an act entitled
an act to authorise William Stadden to erect a mill dam across Fox river, approved Feb. 12, 1833.2Approved, Jan. 14, 1836.
1Responding to a petition from William Stadden, John T. Stuart from the Committee on Petitions introduced HB 29 in the House of Representatives on December 16, 1835. The House passed the bill on December 30. The Senate passed the bill on January 13, 1836. On January 14, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.

2The original act authorized Stadden to build a mill dam in Section 29 of Township 35 North, which was an error, as the
Fox River does not flow through that section of La Salle County. Section 29 of Township 34, however, where the Fox River flows through the town of
Dayton, is where William Stadden constructed his mill.
