Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly; That Daniel Travis, Cornelius D Banta and Page Esqr[Esquire] all residing near the town of Hanover in the county of Tazewell, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State road from a point on the State road from Peoria to1 Ottawa, the nearest, to the town of Hanover in the county of Tazewell, through Said town of Hanover, thence to pass as near as the nature of the ground, and public convenience with permit, along the township line between townships twenty six and twenty seven, and to intersect the state road from Vincennes to chicago at the crossing of said road on the Iroquois river.
Sec 2. The Said commissioners or a majority of them shall meet at the town of Hanover on the first day of May next or within three months thereafter, and after being duly sworn before some Justice of the peace, faithfully to observe the provisions of this act shall proceed to view and locate said road, taking into consideration the locality of the ground and public convenience as aforesaid, and shall fix said road on the most advantageous ground for a permanent road. Said commissioners shall on or before the first session of the county commissioners’ court after said location make or

cause to be made, and delivered to the county commissioners court of each county through which Said road shall pass, a true survey and copy of Said road.
Sec 3. Said road when laid out as aforesaid shall be deemed and considered a state road; shall be opened, worked and kept in repair as other State roads are. And the said commissioners shall receive out of the County Treasury of the respective counties through which said road may pass, at the rate of one dollar and fifty cents for every day necessarily employed in locating So much of said road as may pass through Such county, and the surveyor, chain carriers and others necessary employed in locating said road, shall receive such compensation for their services so rendered in each county, out of the county Treasury as aforesaid, as to the County Commissioners of such county may seem just and right.
