Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly
That Little Rock River2 be and the same is hereby declared a navigable stream from its mouth where it empties
into Rock River as far up as Genessee Grove.

Indefinitely postponed
1On January 21, 1839, Germanicus Kent in the House of Representatives presented the petition of citizens of Whiteside County, requesting that the Little Rock River be made navigable. The House referred the
petition to the Committee on Internal Improvements. In response to this petition,
Edward Smith of the Committee on Internal Improvements introduced HB 204 in the House on January
25. On February 18, the House indefinitely postponed further consideration. On February
19, the House re-considered this voting, referring the bill to a select committee.
The select committee reported back the bill on February 25 with amendments, in which
the House concurred. The House passed the bill as amended on February 27. On March
1, the Senate tabled the bill.
