Sec[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois Represented in the General assembley that Turner S Nichols of Clinton County[,] Thomas Rabisn and John D. Brown of Fayette county Be and they are here by appointed commissinors to vew[,] mark and Locate a state Rode on the nearest and Best Ground Doing as Litle Damage to private property as possible from Joseph Huey[’]s in Clinton County to Intersect the Rode Leading from Salem to vandalia at or near the Hickey Creek Bridge thence to Intersect the Rode Leading from hardy Foster[’]s To Sheblyville in the in the north East corner of Fayette County
Sect 2d the said commissionors or a majority of them shall meet at the House of Joseph Hueys in Clinton County on the First Monday in the month may next or some Day thare after and before Entering on the Duties assigned them By this act shall Take an oath
Before some Justice of the peace of Clinton County Faithfully and Imparshelly to Discharge the Duties indowed on them By this act shall proceed to Discharge Locate the said Rode as purvided for in the first Section of this act and the Said Rode so Layed out is here By Declard a State Rode and it is hereby made the Duties of the Countys Commissinors Courts of Each of the Counties through which the same may pass to cause the same
to be opened and kept in Repare as other state Rods are and shall also allow Each of the Commissinors out of the Respective countys Trasers a Reasonabl compensation per Day for the Time actley spent in Locating said Rode in the Respective Couties
