1Lewis W. Ross introduced HB 145 in the House of Representatives on January 29, 1841. On February 11, the House tabled the bill, likely because the Senate on the same day passed an omnibus bill that assigned all the counties into judicial circuits.
Illinois House Journal. 1840. 12th G. A., 296, 368.
2This bill would have amended the previous legislation creating judicial circuits, which had placed Fulton, Knox, and Warren in the Fifth Judicial Circuit; Tazewell in the Eighth; and Peoria in the Ninth. Mason County had just been created in January 1841 and as such had not yet been assigned to a judicial circuit at this point.
