Swallow, John D.

Flourished: 1854-06-13 Lincoln, Illinois

John D. Swallow resided in Postville (now Lincoln) in Logan County, Illinois, in 1854. Prior to this time, he owned property (mills) in Iowa and Wisconsin. In 1856, Swallow participated in a Logan County political meeting for citizens who opposed the repeal of the Missouri Compromise and the subsequent spread of slavery into Kansas.
