Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the general assembly, That H. B Thompson of Fayette county, be and is hereby ^appointed^ a commissioner to [...?] fill the place of John A Wakefield removed out of the County, to view survey & locate a road from Hardy Fosters in Marrion County to Shelbyville in Shelby, county
Sec. 2 That a majority of the commissioners appointed to locate said road shall have ^have^ full power & authority to locate the same, provided the whole number should not attend at the time agreed on by the a majority of Said commissioners to meet for the purpose of laying out said road, and said commissioners or a majority of them shall have until the first day of December next, to compleat the location of said road & make the returns provided for the in the act to which this is a supplement

1Robert K. McLaughlin introduced SB 23 in the Senate on July 14, 1837. The Senate passed the bill on July 17. On that same day, the House of Representatives referred the bill to a select committee, which did not report back the bill. The House and Senate incorporated provisions of this bill into SB 38.
