Sec[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly. ^4^ That Nimrod Dorsey and Gershon Flagg of Madison County[,] James M. Davis of Bond County. and Robert K. M^cLaughlin of Fayette County be, and they are appointed Commissioners to view, mark[,] and lay ^9^ out a State Road from Vandalia in Fayette County, thence on the nearest and ^ 11^ best ground through Bond County, to upper Alton and thence to the Mississippi River at Lower Alton in Madison County, doing as little injury to private property as a due regard to the public good will permit

Sec 2. That said Commissioners or a majority of them shall meet at Vandalia on the second Tuesday in March next, or within Sixty days thereafter and after being duly sworn before some Justice of the Peace or clerk of the Circuit Court, well and Truly to perform the duties required of them by this act according to the best of their skill and ability, shall proceed to view[,] mark[,] and lay out said Road agreeably to the provisions of the first section of this act

Sec 3. That as soon as said Road may be located, the said commissioners shall make out a complete map or plat of said Road, so viewed, marked, and located by them, they shall certify to the same, and deposit in the office of the County Clerks of the Counties of Fayette[,] Bond[,] and Madison plats of so

of said Road as may lie in those Counties and the clerks of said Counties, and shall cause said plat or survey to be laid before the County Commissioners Courts of each County of the aforesaid Counties at the first Session of said courts, after the plats shall be filed in the Office of the Clerk and the said Commissioners shall cause an entry thereof to be made in their records. And the said road so located is hereby declared a public Road, and the County Commissioners of said Counties shall cause the same to be opened at least three rods wide and kept in repair in the same manner as other public Roads are required to be by law

^1^ Sec 4. Each of said Commissioners shall receive such compensation for their services out of their respective County Treasuries as their respective County Commissioners Courts may order and allow

Sec 5. Any State road heretofore located from Vandalia to Alton is hereby vacated
