1Bowling Green authored this petition. Abraham Lincoln signed his own name.
This particular petition may or may not have been presented to the Sangamon County Commissioners’ Court. On March 7, 1833, a petition very similar to this one was presented to them; in response, the court appointed Hugh Armstrong, James Watkins, and the county surveyor to view and locate the road. This petition bears docketing indicating Hugh Armstrong, William Green, and James Goldsby were appointed to survey the road.
