Whereas many portions of our State Labour under verry great disadvantages by reason of the want of additional mail routs, and by the establishment of the following mail routs a verry Large proportion of her population would be greatly benefited.
7th From Carmi in White County to Maysville in Clay County in Stages.
8th From Vandalia in Feyatte County to Suttons point in Clay county from thence to Maysville in Said County.

9th From Vincennes Indiana to Jasper Courthouse thence to Paradice in Coles County thence to Shelbyville in Shelby County.
13th And from Steels Mills in Randolph County to Robt Miller[]s in Said County thence to Chancy S Burr[]s, in St Clair County thence to Bellville in Said County and from hillsboro in Montgomery County by the way of Carlinsville in Macoupin County to Carrolton in Green County, and from Carlye in Clinton County by way of Pinckneyville in Perry County to Brownsville in Jackson County. The General assembly of the State of Illinois would Respectfully Represent that the establishment of the aforesaid mail routs would aford great facilities to a great portion of

the population of this State, Therefore Resolved that our Senators in Congress be instructed and our Representatives requested to use their best exertions to procure the passage of a Law to Establish the above mentioned mail routs.

1On January 23, 1835, the House of Representatives passed a resolution appointing a select committee consisting of one representative from each of the six judicial circuits to draft a resolution to Congress on the subject of mail routes in the state.Johnson Wren from the select committee introduced this resolution in the House on January 29. The House referred the resolution to a select committee. The select committee reported back the resolution on January 30 with amendments, which the House referred to a select committee. The select committee reported back the resolution and amendments on January 31 with additional amendments, in which the House concurred. The House adopted the resolution as amended. On February 3, the Senate tabled the resolution until July 4.
