Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That Zopher Case, E. A. Haydon and James Burnsides all of the county of C[lin]ton be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and relocate a part
of the State road from Carlysle in Clinton county to Vandalia, viz, to commence at the south east corner of P. J. Holcombs’ farm from thence running south on the section line to Martins’ ferry, from thence
south to Levi Martins and from thence to intersect the old road at the most convenient point between there
and the prairie—commissioners to meet at Carlysle.
Sec. 2. That John Sample, Samuel Prooser and William Jackson of Morgan county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State
road commencing at a point in the original plat of the town of Jacksonville where court street terminates and continuing east on the same line with court street
forty feet in width until the same reaches a point directly south of Phillips’ Bridge
on the [Mauvasteere?] creek and from thence north to said bridge Commissioners to meet at Jacksonville

Sec. 3. That a portion of the State road leading from Palestine to Vandalia be altered and relocated viz, beginning at the west end of Grand prairie street in
Palestine, thence due west about one hundred rods, thence a north west direction to the south
east corner of the north east quarter of section number thirty three, Township seven
north range eleven west one half mile, intersecting the road as at present located—and
the county commissioners court of Crawford county shall cause said road to be opened and kept in repair as other State roads are required
to be and that part of said road from Palestine to the place where the relocated portion strikes the said road be and the same is
hereby vacated. The county surveyor shall run the same out and return a plat thereof
for record.
Sec. 4. That John White, Daniel Pike and Isaac Hill of Morgan county be and they are hereby appointed c[om]missioners to view, survey and [re-?]locate a part of the State road from Jacksonville, through Oxville, Phillips’ ferry to Griggsville viz. commencing at James [?] Morrisons near

Oxville thence to Phillips’ ferry also to re-locate a part of the State road running from
Winchester through Bloomfield to Naples, viz, to commence at James Morrisons thence to Naples commissioners to meet at said Morrisons.
Sec. 5. That Robert Smith of Livingston county, and Jacob Shaw and Silas B. Curtis of McLean county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State
road, viz, commencing at or near Oliver’s grove in Livingston county, thence to Indian grove in said county, thence to the town of Pleasant Hill in McLean county, thence to the town of Lexington in said county, thence to Peoria by way of Clarksville, Bowling Green, Versailes and Washington—commissioners to meet at Olivers Grove.
Sec. 6. That an act entitled “An act to locate a State road from Shelbyville in Shelby county by way of Urbana in Champaign county to Chicago” approved February 7. 1837. be and the same is hereby revived—and that William Purvis of Shelby county and William Rock and Noah Bixler

of Champaign county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to carry out the provisions of the
act above refered to in all respects to terminate said location at the Sugar Grove at the north east corner of Champaign county—commissioners to meet at such point as may be agreed upon.
Sec. 7. That Samuel Hunsaker, George Hunsaker and William C. Whitlock of the county of Union be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and relocate so much
of the Williard ferry State road as lies between Jonesboro and Henry Cruse’s mill race; and so much thereof as lies between Caleb Truse’s house and the running Lake. said commissioners shall state in their report to
the commissioners court of union county whether in their opinion the re-location will make the road shorter and better and
if in their opinion the same will be shorter and better the commissioners court shall by an order on record d[e]clare the said relocation a public State road and shall cause the same to be opened
and kept in repair And all such parts of the present road as shall be left out in
such

relocation shall be vacated whenever the relocated parts thereof shall be opened
[Sec?] 8. The commissioners appointed at the last session of the general assembly to locate
and establish a State road from Hillsboro to Shelbyville via Audubon having failed
and neglected to perform their duty in locating said road, John Tacket of Shelby
county Philip Burlue and ^Thomas Gray^ of Mo[n]tgomery county and of Shelby county are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey
and locate said road and carry out the provisions of said act—commissioners to meet
at Hillsboro
Sec. 9. That Joseph Spangler, Elisha Query and Henry Yorger of be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and re-locate a part
of the State road from Decatur to Sidney viz, so much of said road as lies between where said

road crosses the section line ^north east^ of Guy Helm running west from thence until it passes said farm of Guy Helm, from thence on the nearest and best route to Decatur doing as little damage to improved land as practicable—commissioners to meet at such
point as may be agreed upon.
Sec. 10. That Samuel Brown, James Scott and Thomas B
^(D)^ Moore of Macoupin county are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and re-locate a part of the State
road from Carlinville to Hillsboro, viz, to commence and leave the present road at the top of the hill east of the bridge
across Macoupin creek and thence run on a line as near as possible to the north corner of Honey creek meeting-house
lot, thence due east until it intersects the old road near the north west corner of
Thomas Corr’s farm—commissioners to meet at such point as may be agreed upon.

road from said bridge to Shawneetown, as now located [and] established, is hereby declared a state road four rods wide—said commissioners to
meet at McLeansboro.

to view, survey and locate a State road from McLeansboro in Hamilton county to Bear creek bridge
[Sec. 12 That L. E. Cartright, J. K. Hodge and James Kelly of Coles county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and re-locate so much
of the State road in said county as lies between the home of said J. K. Hodgeand one half mile east of L. E. Cartright on the most eligible ground for a permanent road—Provided, The said L. E. Cartright will be at the expence of said new survey and location—a plat of the same to be returned to commissioners court of Coles county to be re recorded and filed.

Sec. 13. That the county road leading from the town of Le Roy in the county of McLean to the town of Lexington in said county be and the same is hereby declared a State road four rods wide.
Sec. 14. That Eli Barnes, John Easterbrook & Jessee. C. Kelogg be and they are hereby appointed to view, survey and locate a State road from Ottowa in La Salle county, thence northerly through Saminack timber, Squaw grove to Sycamore the county seat of De Kalb county, thence by Genoa Post office to Belvidere the county seat of Boon county, thence to the State line in a directions to Madison the seat of Government of Wisconsin Territory—commissioners to meet at Ottowa.
Sec. 15. ThatMartin Gillet be and he is hereby authorized and permitted to make an alteration in the road at
[or] near his house, viz, to alter and re-locate the Kaskaskia road west of his house
so as to intersect the Carlysle road at or near the north west corner of his house
making a gradual and neat

curve in the road so altered west of his house—and on opening and putting the new
located road in good order the Kaskaskia road from the curve west of the house to
the presant intersection with the Carlysle road at or near Neal Ellet’s shall be annulled and vacated. Said Gillet shall cause the same to be surveyed, platted and returned to the commissioners court of the county to be recorded and filed.
Sec. 16, That Jacob Wydick, William Wardal jr and Elisha Freeman be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State
road commencing at Decatur in Macon county, thence to Mount Auburn in Christian county, thence to Macoupin Point, and to intersect the Springfield and Alton road ^at^ or near said point commissioners to meet at Decatur.
Sec. 17. That Nathan Clampet James Bowdine of Jefferson county & John Mayfield of Dickson county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey
and locate a State road from Mount Vernon

in Jefferson county to Brownsville in Jackson county; said road to be located on the old county road from Mount Vernon to where said runs in the horse prairie, thence to Kirkpatrick’s bridge across Little Muddy river and from thence the nearest and most eligible route to Brownsville—commissioners to meet at Mount Vernon.
Sec. 18. That Wallace Hotchkiss, Lyman German and Simeon McKinley all of Kane County be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State
road from Geneva the county seat of Kane county to Warrenville in Du Page county—commissioners to meet at Geneva.
Sec. 19. That E. P. Wade of Adams county and
^Levi Williams,^ Eli D. Walker and T. E. Fox of Hancock county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State
road from Lima in Adams county to Green Plains Post office and from thence to Nauvoo in Hancock county—and also a State road from

said Green Plains post office to the town of Warsaw in said county of Hancock—commissioners to meet at at
Lima WarsawSec. 20. That Harvey Lee Senr and Thomas Cooper—of Fayette County, Illinois Fayette county and William Aldridge of Clay county be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey and locate a State
road from a suitable point on the road leading to Maysville on or near the four mile prairie, thence to the south line of section 11. Township
6 N. in Range. 3. east of the third principal meridian, thence the nearest and best
way to Louisville in Clay county commissioners to meet at John Hayle’s in Fayette county.

Sec 21. The commissioners appointed to locate, relocate and establish the several roads
and parts of roads in this act named shall previous to entering upon the discharge
of the duties assigned them

be sworn before some judge or justice of the peace of the state, faithfully and impartially to perform the duties required of them as
commissioners of by this act—and they shall endeavor to locate said roads from point to point given
on the nearest and most eligible route for permanent roads, doing as little damage
to private property as the nature of the case will permit, keeping in view the public
good.
Sec. 22. Said commissioners shall make out a report and plat of the road so by them established
and return the same to the commissioners court of that part lying and being in each county giving the courses and distances which
shall be recorded and filed. All the roads and parts of roads authorized by this
act shall be four rods wide, unless otherwise stated

Sec. 23.
The compensation to commissioners shall be one dollar and fifty cents per day, surveyors
two dollars, chain and axe men seventy five cents, for each and every day necessarily
employed in the discharge of the duties herein required—to be paid out of the county
treasuries upon the order of the commissioners courts respectively, apportioning the whole amount to the extent and distance of road in
the counties
